How to Use the Tile Calculator

Choose your units, enter the area to cover and the tile length and width, then the grout gap, a wastage percentage and the number of tiles per box. Press Calculate tiles to see the tile count and boxes to buy.

What it accounts for

• Each tile plus its grout gap is treated as one module, so the gap is included in the count.
• A wastage allowance (default 10%) covers cuts, breakages and future repairs.
• Boxes are rounded up from the tile count with wastage.

Getting a better number

Complex layouts, diagonal patterns and many cut edges waste more. For a large format tile or a herringbone pattern, increase the wastage allowance. Buy all boxes in one batch where possible to avoid shade differences.
